Activated Charcoal
What does it do?
Not all charcoal is "activated". Charcoal is activated by heating it to a very high temperature. This process causes a change in structure to a fine carbon powder and, as a result, makes it more porous. This allows the charcoal to act as a magnet and collect impurities and dirt from the skin, making it perfect for face masks.
Where does it originate from?
Activated Charcoal is created by heating a carbon-rich material to a very high heat without oxygen. At Q+A, we use Bamboo.
When should I use it?
This ingredient is best used 2-3 times per week to avoid drying out the skin.
What skin type is it best suited to?
Activated Charcoal is suitable for oily, combination and blemish-prone skin types.
What does it work well with?
Activated Charcoal works well with Kaolin, a natural clay, to help detoxify the skin and give clay face masks a luxurious texture.
