Glycerin

What does it do?

Glycerin is a humectant, meaning it draws in moisture from the atmosphere, helping to relieve dryness and revitalise the skin. Often used in oil-free formulas, it offers effective long-term hydration without added oil.

Where does it originate from?

Glycerin can have a synthetic or natural origin. When naturally derived, it can be found in vegetable oils.

When should I use it?

This ingredient can be used day and night. It also makes a great base under makeup.

What skin type is it best suited to?

Glycerin is a universal ingredient suitable for all skin types. Its ability to hydrate the skin without added oils makes it a great option for oily and combination skin types.

What does it work well with?

Glycerin works well alongside any ingredient, hence why we use it in so many of our formulations! However, it works particularly well with fellow humectant Hyaluronic Acid to improve moisture retention.

What else do I need to know?

The tacky texture of Glycerin makes it a great base for long-lasting makeup.
